From the early days of women like Helen Ely, who had an important impact on the creation of the Arts Project by serving on the board or Maggie McCorkle who made her mark on the stage...to the fun and games of Ricki and Anne putting together the Dyke Olympics in the 70s and the Grovettes kicking butts every year in the Cherry Bowl since 1984.
Cherry Grove has been the place where LGBTQIA+ residents and visitors get to create community...it has been the home of love, expression, passion, conflict, compromise, art and chosen family...and women have played a vital role since the beginning.
